You searched this hoping for a thread where Kenyans compare agencies honestly. Those threads barely exist. r/Kenya rarely discusses SEO, and the large SEO subreddits are dominated by American and European agencies with no East African context at all.
So here is the list that thread would have produced if enough Kenyans were having that conversation.
I run one of the agencies on it, which you should factor in. I have put us first because I think we earn it and I explain why below. Everything after that is a straight list.
How I ranked these
Four things, applied in this order.
Technical execution. Whether the agency’s own site is technically sound. Schema markup, crawlability, page speed, mobile performance. An agency that cannot fix its own site will not fix yours.
Niche depth. Whether they have real experience in a specific sector rather than treating every client the same. In competitive niches this is the difference between ranking and not.
AI search readiness. Whether they understand GEO and AEO, and whether their clients are actually being cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Most Kenyan agencies have not started on this.
Honesty about pricing. Whether they will tell you what the work actually costs and what a small retainer genuinely buys.
1. Nairobi Marketing
Renaissance Centre, Elgon Road, Upper Hill
Phone Number: +254718272755
We do SEO, Google Ads, web design, and generative engine optimization for businesses across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda. Most of our work sits in travel and hospitality, law, real estate, healthcare, and e-commerce.
The travel work is where we are strongest and it is worth explaining why, because it is the reason I would pick us over an agency that has never worked in the sector. Ranking a safari company or a lodge internationally is one of the hardest SEO jobs in this market. You are competing against operators with backlinks from the Guardian and Condé Nast Traveller. Generic content does not touch them. What works is content built on genuine local knowledge, the specific things about a region that mainstream travel media has never covered, because that is what builds topical authority. An agency writing from Mumbai or Dallas cannot produce it.
On the technical side we do full audits before recommending any strategy. That has caught things other agencies missed entirely, including a client site that was completely unreachable from outside the country, which meant Google’s crawlers could not see it either. Schema markup we build in @graph JSON-LD across every page type, not just the homepage.
We have been doing GEO seriously since before most agencies here had heard the term. That means entity establishment, topical authority architecture, structured content built for extraction, and monitoring whether clients are actually cited by AI systems.
On pricing, I have written publicly about what SEO actually costs in Kenya and why a Ksh 30,000 retainer in a competitive niche buys you reports rather than results. Read that before you talk to anyone, including us.
2. SEO Agency Kenya
Westlands, Nairobi
Our sister brand, so treat this with the same scepticism as the entry above. SEO only, no paid media, no web design. Same technical approach and same AI search capability, applied to a narrower brief. Worth considering if you want a specialist rather than a full-service agency.
3. KWETU Marketing Agency
SAT Centre, Mombasa Road, Nairobi
Founded 2017. Full-service agency covering SEO, Google Ads, social media, web design, and experiential marketing. Publishes actively on AI SEO and AI Overviews. Quotes SEO between Ksh 20,000 and Ksh 150,000 monthly.
4. Artly Digital Marketing
Nairobi
Positions on affordability and flexible packages. Covers SEO, Meta and Google Ads, LinkedIn and TikTok advertising, web design, and content writing. Publishes a high volume of service and comparison pages.
5. Explosify Digital
Nairobi
Performance marketing, branding, and social media. Works across tech, lifestyle, real estate, and e-commerce. Data-driven positioning aimed at brands optimising ad spend rather than building organic search.
6. Yaani Digital
USIU Road, Nairobi
Operating over seven years, with offices serving Kenya, Uganda, and the US. Performance marketing focus covering SEO, PPC, programmatic advertising, and market intelligence. Clients include SportPesa, AMG Realtors, and CFAO Mobility.
7. Jeder Agency
Nairobi
SEO and website design at the affordable end of the market. Also runs SEO training courses. Case studies include MGK Consulting and a motorbike safari operator targeting European and American traffic.
What Reddit does get right
The general agency-hiring advice on r/SEO and r/bigseo holds up in Nairobi. Ask what they will actually do each month. Be suspicious of guaranteed rankings. Ask for real traffic and ranking data rather than testimonials. Never buy cheap link packages.
The one thing Reddit will not tell you is that Kenyan pricing expectations are miscalibrated. Rates here are genuinely lower than the US or UK because labour costs less, which is a real advantage. But it has also normalised retainers too small to fund actual work. A single quality backlink in travel runs $100 to $200. Work out what a small monthly fee can cover once you know that.
If you want to know where your site currently stands, ask us for an audit. If you would rather use the criteria above to evaluate someone else, do that instead.
